Grand Canyon,Watch tower, south rim (picture)

Located just past the gate of south rim is the "Watchtower". Not as old as it looks it is actually a steel structure surrounded by rock. It is a great place to stop not just for thye view but has a gift shop, grocery store, bathrooms and gas station. 25 miles doen the road from Mather’s point and about 50 miles from Cameron thru Navajo lands

You will see numerous sequences of ancient rock first hand, beautifully preserved and exposed in the walls of the canyon.
